Lessons from Rebranding iCurric: A Journey of Growth, Understanding, and Purpose

This year will be a transformative one—not only for iCurric but also for me personally as an entrepreneur. Rebranding iCurric went beyond updating a logo or refreshing our messaging; it required realigning with purpose, deepening impact, and ensuring that every decision reflects the communities we serve.

Rebuilding with Intent

During the rebrand, I took a step back to better understand the challenges faced by the learners, workforce programs, and organizations we aim to support. These challenges included adult social-emotional learning needs, issues with cognitive load, and self-efficacy. I engaged directly with community leaders, workforce professionals, and underrepresented learners—listening to their experiences, frustrations, and aspirations. Through these conversations, I recognized that learning solutions are most effective when intentionally designed to bridge fundamental gaps in knowledge of world systems and meta-learning skills.

This process reinforced something I have always known: education should not only focus on instruction but also on access, equity, and creating meaningful pathways for learning and unlearning.

The Power of Being a Generalist with Deep Expertise

One of the misconceptions I have encountered in my journey is that success requires choosing a single niche and specializing deeply. While this can be very true, being a generalist with deep expertise in teaching and learning has been a tremendous asset.

As an instructional designer, I can see the intersections between education, workforce development, and corporate learning, enabling me to build solutions that align across these fields. As a strategic thinker, I understand that learning must connect with employer needs, learner realities, and broader economic trends to be effective. And as a first-generation college graduate and entrepreneur, I know that real impact comes from helping others integrate diverse disciplines, perspectives, information, and lived experiences in a manner that is relevant to their livelihoods.

For instance, the iCurric360™ framework conveys the idea of a holistic, all-encompassing approach to learning design. It emphasizes a complete view of the learner’s journey, incorporating emotional, intellectual, cultural, and technological aspects into a unified framework that predicts the high engagement necessary for persistence through challenging learning sequences. This approach has proven to be more effective than following a rigid framework used with traditional training models.

Fueling My Passion: A First-Generation Perspective

As a first-generation college graduate and entrepreneur, I experienced firsthand how it feels to navigate education, career, growth, and ambition without a roadmap. The challenge of being "the first" in my family to enter new spaces was about personal achievement, overcoming generational poverty, breaking barriers in learning systems for underserved communities, and ensuring that others could follow a more equitable path to realizing success and aligning with their purpose through education.

That is why I am so passionate about helping others who have goals, ambition, and purpose but may not always have the clear pathways, networks, or resources to realize their aspirations. I know what it takes to bet on yourself, push through challenges, and build something from the ground up, all while working through trauma and self-doubt.

What's Next for iCurric?

This rebrand represents a steadfast commitment to delivering learning solutions that genuinely serve, creating pathways that lead to real economic mobility, and designing instruction that fosters personal transformation. My intent is that this commitment serves as a beacon of hope for those who aspire to better their lives through education and skill development. Imagine a culturally aware and forward-thinking society with access to all education and technology has to offer. Our mission is to help corporations, workforce development programs, and social impact initiatives improve their practice, expand their impact, and drive measurable outcomes for economic mobility through custom training solutions.

We aim to be the leader in custom technology-enabled learning design, empowering communities through high-impact curriculum, training, and development programs all over the world.
